Coast firm’s online plan to keep business operational
Sunshine Coast firm The Fleet Office has developed a streamlined online solution to help keep one of the region’s largest employers operational during the coronavirus pandemic.
At the request of local firm Hall Contracting, Mooloolaba based The Fleet Office made a number of additions to its online induction program to ensure all of their staff and contractors were COVID-19 compliant before entering any of their worksites.
Hall Contracting director Cameron Hall said as one of the few workplaces currently able to operate, it was important to ensure compliance of all staff and contractors.
“We take the health and safety of our staff, clients and suppliers very seriously and to help us stay on the front foot in the mitigation of the risk of COVID-19 across all our worksites, we engaged The
Fleet Office to build a COVID-19 specific training and awareness induction program,” Mr Hall said.
“They responded to our request immediately and within hours we were trialling this new induction, which can be easily accessed in a downloadable format from any worksite.
“It’s now integrated seamlessly into our online induction platform and has ensured everyone who enters our sites meets all our workplace induction requirements including those relating to COVID-19.”
The Fleet Office director Jim Lee said the inducted program was designed by his software development team and the additional COVID-19 requirements from Hall Contracting was completed within 24 hours.
“The inducted software we created is the result of feedback we received from our customers asking for assistance to streamline their operations and utilising their employees more efficiently,” Mr Lee said.
“A few of our customers had specifically mentioned that their site engineers spend a great deal of time ensuring that subcontractors are correctly inducted and have the right tickets and licences.
“While these checks and inductions are essential tasks, they are not always seen as the best use of a senior engineer’s time as it takes them away from their more specialised engineering duties.
“The Inducted program is a much more efficient way of achieving this time consuming but necessary task and ensures everyone onsite meets all necessary safety requirements.”
Mr Lee said he had been amazed at the growth of this innovative platform, which was being used extensively in five states and is fast becoming the industry standard.
“As one of the few industries that can operate in the current COVID-19 environment, I believe we can not only keep civil construction staff employed and companies operating but more importantly, keep everyone safe,” he said.
